AML Monitoring: The Difference Between Filing More SARs and Finding More Crime
AML transaction monitoring at most large banks generates alert volumes that analysts cannot meaningfully investigate. The result is not a cautious programme that catches most money laundering. It is a high-volume programme that catches a fraction of it while consuming enormous operational resources on alerts that are not suspicious.
