From AI Projects to AI Operations: The Operating Model Gap Separating Leaders from Laggards
Most enterprises have AI projects. A growing number have AI in production. Very few have AI operations: the organisational structure, accountability model, and operational infrastructure that sustains AI performance over time at business scale. The distinction is not semantic. AI projects have launch dates and model accuracy metrics. AI operations have P&L accountability, production SLAs, refresh cycles, and degradation thresholds. The organisations that close this gap will compound AI advantage. The ones that do not will keep relaunching the same pilots.
